What’s in store for 2019?

After a challenging but impressive start to 2019, we’ve just finished January with a monthly review and we are now looking forward to the challenges we hope to face! Having recently moved to our new offices, we are developing plans to expand come the second half of the year and have our fingers crossed that Jevon’s rugby inflicted black eye will have disappeared by then!

January is always a tough month after the celebrations of Christmas and New year have finished – for the recruitment sector it is no different. It usually takes a good few days for everyone to get settled and back into the work routine but never-the-less, since the start of the year we have fully qualified many new vacancies, proving the construction market is looking as strong as ever.

Many of the vacancies which we have picked up are located across the North West, North East, East, and South East regions of the UK, from Part 1 Architectural Assistants and Junior Architectural Technicians, up to a Partner level opportunity with a multi-disciplinary practice in Cambridge – no matter what level you are at, we can help!

We have recently introduced a new Part 1 scheme to Konker’s arsenal, which we are hoping will offer more of the Part 1’s who contact us the job they are looking for, while at the same time, saving our clients significant time from advertising/screening and the hiring process. Feel free to inquire about this scheme either over email or by phone. So far this has been a great success in helping us place numerous Part 1’s, allowing them to gain crucial industry experience and helping them to progress towards becoming a Qualified Architect.

Last week we also had some positive economic news demonstrating the markets’ buoyancy – the number of people in work throughout the UK has reached a record high of 32.54 million as well as the number of job vacancies rising by 10,000 to a record high of 853,000. Not to mention the unemployment rate is now at the lowest it has been since 1975!

Brexit, of course, is on everyone’s mind and I am sure will be for many more months to come! From speaking to our clients over the last few weeks they are of the same opinion as us – business as usual until any firm decisions have been made in terms of how we leave, until then why worry too much about something which is out of our control! There is high demand from their clients in turn and the order books are looking very busy for the next 12-18 months.

Overall, we are extremely excited for what our first full calendar year will bring us – January has been a fantastic start, we are loving every day and expect 2019 to be a successful year for all!
